I have no idea how I came across this but it was so small I amost overlooked it. The smallest oil painting in the world can be found at the National Museum in the Phillipines and was painted by Norris Castillo. “The Harvest” is only 3/8 of an inch long by 1/4 of an inch wide. Believe it or not, “The Harvest” isn’t his smallest work of art. He has another miniature in Sweden that measures 1/8 of an inch by 3/16 of an inch and has done over 10,000 of these little works of art For more on miniatures, click here.
Now going to the other extreme, the world’s largest painting was painted by David Aberg and confirmed by Guiness Book of World Records. It took this guy 2-1/2 years and 100 tons of paint to create the 86,000 square foot painting titled “Mother Earth.”
