The Spotlight June 5th, 2009

Jeannie M. Bush was a reluctant quilter. When close friends wanted to learn to quilt in 1999, she did not share their enthusiasm but did not want to be left out of the socializing! Eventually, she was drawn into the world of fabric. Her “stash” started to grow.

Creating traditional quilts, whole cloth quilts, stained glass quilts, purses, and other quilted treasures with personalized labels are Ms. Bush’s passion. Her quilts have been exhibited in galleries and art shows in the Midwest, including the Gallery La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Ms. Bush is the recipient of several awards and honors. She received the People’s Choice Award for her stained glass quilt titled Grandpa’s Goat during a fundraiser for the 7Rivers Region EcoPark, December 2008. My Wisconsin Star, her first quilt created without a published pattern, received an Honorable Mention in October 2008 when the La Crosse Area Quilt Guild hosted QuiltFest on the Mississippi. There were over 200 quilts in 13 categories.

Jeannie Bush was born in Lidgerwood, North Dakota in 1956. She received her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from the North Dakota State College of Science in 1977. Bush holds a Certificate in Electrology from the Eau Claire Institute of Electrolysis, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in 1999, and owns Amenity Electrolysis, LLC.

Quilting From My Heart formally became a business entity Jan 1, 2009.

Not only is Jeannie a wonderful quilter, but she is also a fantastic sister who encouraged me, her older sister, to develop my skills. We, as a family, are very proud of Jeannie. Judi Lundstrom
