The Spotlight July 17th, 2009

In The Spotlight this week, meet Stacie Anthony.  Her meditative images are released from a textural charcoal or pastel-coated, wooden panel surface by erasing, scratching, and sanding.  She says “an integral part of my art-making process is preparing the panels to a workable, yet tactile surface.  These images also serve as designs for my jewelry and sculptural work.  Inspiration for my art is found during reflective moments immersed in the natural world.  Living in the breathtaking Kickapoo River Valley in rural Wisconsin.  I am surrounded by the bounty of nature, so inspiration is rarely further than bare feet and an open heart away.  My work focuses on a vision of humankind united, earth connection, and environmentalism.”

A variety of Stacie’s work can be seen at Gallery La Crosse on Main St. La Crosse, Wisconsin, and her Jewelry and sculptural work is also on display at Gary’s Rock Shop in Viroqua, WI.  Oh! And if your near Neenah, WI. visit The Hang Up Gallery to see her new and recent charcoal/mixed media work on wood panels.

Stacie’s “Tree-of-Life” has been added to the Coulee Region Art slide show.  To see that and the work of 39 other local area artists click on the “Local Area Artist Box” below.
