Before I get to this weeks’ spotlighted artist I thought I’d post a few reminders of some upcoming and ongoing events in the Coulee Region. First of all the exhibit “Under Pressure” is on display at The Pump House Regional Arts Center, a three artist show by the members of Brown Dog Studio. This runs through March 28th. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 12:00-5:00pm and Saturday 12:00-4:00pm. For more information call 608-785-1434 or email www.thepumphouse.org .
The Green Bay Street Studio is also celebrating their one year anniversary next Saturday March 7th. The celebration starts at 7:00pm at 1500 Green Bay Street, ste 510, La Crosse. It is a good opportunity to see some good art and rub elbows with the artists. For more info go to www.greenbaystreetstudio.com.
And don’t forget about the Cabin Fever Art Show and Sale March 14th at the Cleary Alumni & Friends Center on the UW-La Crosse campus. This show has 27 established and emerging artists from the 7 Rivers Region.
And finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for–The Spotlight. This week meet glass Artist Chad Moriarty. Chad is a recent transplant to the area and currently setting up his business “Southern Fried Glass” in Sparta. In addition to being spotlighted here he is also the newest member of VIVA Gallery in Viroqua and his glass art will be featured at their First Thursday of the month event, March 5th from 5:00 to 7:00pm. For more information on VIVA’s First Thursday event you can call 608-637-6918 or email info@vivagallery.net . Check out his custom jellyfish lamp on our Local Area Artists Slideshow.
