First Thursday

“First Thursday” at VIVA Gallery in Viroqua is the day after tomorrow, May 7, 2009.  This month they will be featuring wildlife artist Dan Hazlett.  His drawings of animals, birds, flora, and fauna are rendered in precise colors and form.  First Thursday open house is May 7th from 5-7pm at VIVA Gallery.  Stop in and meet the artist.  The event is free and open to the public.  Good food and refreshments will be provided.  For more information you can contact the gallery at 608-637-6918.

One other thing I’d like to mention is that last Friday after work I stopped by State Street Gallery.  I ended up looking at art and talking with Ellen Kallies for over an hour.  It is a wonderful gallery packed with art from local area artists.  In fact, I was pleasantly suprised as I walked into the gallery to see Matt Duckett’s painting “Bri.”  Matt and his painting were featured on this blog a couple months ago.  Lisa Ulik’s intaglio print “Mother and Child” was also displayed in the front window.  There were also several pieces of pottery from Joyce Diveley and she even had a few asian-deco boxes made by Andrew Chulyk, who was just featured in “The Spotlight” last Friday.  Like I said, it is a wonderful little gallery and Ellen is a real joy to talk with.  Stop in for a visit.
